Chris Herren, a former NBA player who soared to international fame while battling life as a junkie, told a packed auditorium at the University of Minnesota-Crookston Wednesday that he was just like them. He never thought he would become addicted to heroin, cocaine and OxyContin, the drugs that ruined his once-promising career.
Last Thursday, a University of Minnesota-Crookston student group kept a homecoming tradition alive by painting a block ‘M’ at midfield for the football game. There was one problem: The logo was not at midfield.

A UMC horticulture major, Radke’s summer job is to keep the university’s mall in tip-top shape. During her work day she also may water flowers, mow lawns, weed whack and mulch’s flower beds.
