Gov. Mark Dayton has signed a bill to build a nearly $1 billion stadium for the Minnesota Vikings. Dayton signed the bill to cheers Monday during a ceremony attended by the NFL team’s owners and several key legislators.
The University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents has approved an agreement with the Minnesota Vikings that allows the use of TCF Bank Stadium during the NFL team’s construction of its new stadium.
Lawmakers approved the final version of a Vikings stadium construction plan Thursday, sending it to the governor’s desk for approval. The new stadium would make Minnesota “a better place to live,” Rep. Morrie Lanning, R-Moorhead, said shortly after the House approved his stadium construction bill 71-60 early Thursday.
