In the days following the Runnin O’ the Green this year, event founder Larry Knoblich will visit close to 20 people who are battling cancer and give them a check for $500 to be used for expenses.
With the bang of the starting pistol, a few runners loped down the hill to McElroy Park, followed by a crowd of hundreds, and then thousands of people celebrating the 34th annual Runnin O’ the Green.
Saturday’s 34th annual Runnin O’ the Green is expected to bring thousands of people to Jamestown and several local businesses are welcoming the rush of customers.
The 34th annual Runnin O’ the Green Saturday will be safe and successful, its organizer says, provided people use common sense, designated drivers and walkers and the proverbial luck of the Irish.
Like clockwork every year following The Runnin O’ the Green, event founder Larry Knoblich walks the course and picks up after runners, filling bags with trash. It’s also like clockwork that each year sees more and more participants.
