Local view: SBA ready to help flood victims

August 3, 2012 in Duluth News Tribune

Homeowners affected by the Northland flash flood in June now have tangible options to get started on their rebuilding efforts. The decision by the U.S. Small Business Administration to offer low-interest disaster recovery loans in Douglas County and in all seven counties that surround it including Bayfield, Burnett, Sawyer and Washburn counties in Wisconsin and Carlton (including the Fond du Lac Reservation), Pine and St. Louis counties in Minnesota means that one of the biggest tools we’ve been waiting for is now available for homeowners, businesses and nonprofits affected by the flood.

June 11, 2011 in Duluth News Tribune

In response to the June 9 editorial, “So long, Central; may memories never fade,” and the News Tribune Opinion page’s call for memories of Duluth Central High School, I want to say that I graduated from the old Central High School, and I remember that when we were graduates, we were allowed to go up into the clock tower to the top.
