Plum City High School’s girls’ basketball team didn’t let Wisconsin Rapids Assumption’s No. 2 state ranking or 25-1 state ranking intimidate them in the semifinals of the WIAA Division 5 La Crosse Logan Sectional tournament Thursday.
Getting to the state tournament isn’t supposed to be easy and it certainly won’t be for the Plum City High School girls basketball team as they face a formidable opponent in the WIAA Division 5 sectional semifinals.
The Plum City girls basketball team took control of their WIAA Division 5 regional tournament championship game against Eleva-Strum in the second half and easily beat the Cardinals on their home floor 58-40 for PC’s first title since 1999.
Plum City will look to win its first WIAA regional title in girls basketball since 1999 after winning Friday night at home over Cochrane-Fountain City 49-43 in a Division 5 semifinal game.
Plum City and Prescott prep girls basketball teams had the best regular season marks in Pierce County and they are the two teams still alive in WIAA regional tournament play.
Plum City will be moving on to the Division 5 semifinals of the WIAA regional girls basketball tournament while three other Pierce County teams were eliminated in Tuesday night’s play.
After last year’s upset loss in the first round of the regionals, players and coaches for the Prescott High School girls basketball team were just happy to get the first round win this year against Altoona Tuesday night even if the game wasn’t an artistic work.
All of Pierce County’s prep girls basketball are all playing first round games this evening in their respective WIAA regional tournaments.
