Attorneys for Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. filed an appeal on Monday, claiming that the man convicted of killing Dru Sjodin was denied effective counsel at different phases during his murder trial.
Thomas Fairbanks took the stand in his own defense in his murder trial, admitting he was responsible and no one else, for shooting Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher Dewey. But he had no intent to shoot him, was drunk and on drugs and feared for his own life, Fairbanks said under questioning from his attorney, Jim Austad.
Thousands of dollars worth of electronics, prescription medications, alcohol and cash were reported stolen in 12 incidents between June 6 and June 15, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported.
