Review: OST stages ‘Beau Jest,’ a comedy with heart

OKOBOJI, Iowa Okoboji Summer Theatre (OST) scores a big hit this week: “Beau Jest” by James Sherman, a comedy with heart, humor and well-developed characterizations, which enjoyed a successful Off-Broadway run for more than two years. The OST cast of six is almost perfect in every way, and the action moves along smoothly to a satisfying climax in under two hours. OST ends season with energetic Disney musical

OKOBOJI, Iowa Okoboji Summer Theater has chosen a blockbuster as its season’s final production. Its performance of “Beauty and the Beast” crackles with energy and showcases a fine troupe of singers and dancers.

OKOBOJI, Iowa “One can lie, but the truth is more interesting.” The truth seems to be what each character is hiding in the mysterious play, “The Chalk Garden” by Enid Bagnold. The cast at the Okoboji Summer Theatre embodied these richly written characters and ended to an instant standing ovation in one of the last plays of the season.
