Tragedy hit a North Hudson family with strong military ties last weekend, but not in the usual way. Mike Boldizsar, a career Navy man, died of apparent heart disease Sunday, March 24, while home on leave. He was 36.
About 30 members of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band stopped by Kozy Korner Pizza & Sports Bar Thursday on their way to the WCHA Frozen Five men’s hockey tournament in St. Paul.
Shannon O’Brien nearly died as the result of injuries sustained in a January 2012 crash. With 15 to 17 broken bones and several surgeries, a special goal kept her going as she had to learn how to walk, read and count again.
This is turning out to be an award-winning year for the Hudson School District. The most recent recognition is for North Hudson Elementary School which has been named a Wisconsin Title 1 High-Achieving School.
Bridget’s husband, Petty Officer 1st Class Bryan Relander, won’t be home this Christmas. A 16-year Navy veteran, Relander’s reserve unit was called to active duty in October.
