The owner of farmland just east of the Red River Valley, Rodney Liedberg has claimed that he’s “15 miles from the good land.” His property may not have the rich soil of the valley, but it has something that likely soon will enrich its value healthy winds. He has property on the high sand ridges of the Pembina Trail, where the wind is strong and steady, ripe for wind energy.
Backed by the Ninth District American Legion Band and supported by an 80-voice choir, the pastor of Bethlehem and Nazareth Lutheran churches in Thief River Falls wrote “31 Little Words: America, Land of Liberty,” a new rendition of an essay written and first presented in 1969 by the late comedian Red Skelton, based on “the Little Old Man,” that addresses the meaning of the 31 individual words in the Pledge of Allegiance.
