Farmington is officially on its way to the construction of a veterans’ memorial. Members of the committee that has been planning the project, which will be located in Rambling River Park, turned ceremonial shovels of dirt at 2 p.m. Friday to get the project under way. Air Force Airman Joseph L. Schwartz graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Schwartz is the son of Julie Crider of Farmington, and Jay Doyscher of Fairmont.
He is a 2011 graduate of Rosemount High School.
