Marvin Windows and Doors, a family-owned business based in northern Minnesota, survived the financial crisis without any employee layoffs, a decision that won the company praise from presidential candidates and pundits alike.
WARROAD, Minn. (AP) A company set in the remote woodlands of northern Minnesota is highlighted by President Barack Obama during a speech on his economic vision.
President Barack Obama cited the fourth-generation-owned Marvin Windows and Doors, based in Warroad, Minn., during his speech in a small Kansas town Tuesday. Obama used Marvin as an example of a business obligated to its employees.
Susan Marvin, the president of Warroad, Minn., based Marvin Windows and Doors, was presented with Bemidji State University’s 2011 Distinguished Minnesotan Award during a university commencement ceremony on today.
