The U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., said that retiring Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., is a close ally in the Senate and that she needs a fighter with a heart for public service like Heidi Heitkamp to replace him. The pair held “forum” appearances in Mandan and rural Fargo today.
North Dakota Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp will host the Senate’s Agriculture Committee chairwoman at public campaign forums Saturday in Mandan and Fargo.
State superintendent candidate Kirsten Baesler has received campaign money from some of the state’s most prominent figures and has taken the fundraising lead in the race. Baesler of Mandan has raised nearly $36,000 this year in her bid to become the state’s next leader of K-12 education, according to campaign finance reports.
Mandan state Rep. RaeAnn Kelsch, a Republican, has been endorsed to run for re-election despite recent news she didn’t file state income tax returns for seven years. Kelsch is chairwoman of the North Dakota House’s Education Committee.
The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame is holding its 17th annual membership and trustee meetings, banquet and fundraising auction this weekend.
