Brigitte Freschette didn’t know Lake Region State College had dropped its volleyball program several years ago until she was hired as a counselor at the school last summer. In less than a month after her arrival, however, volleyball again was a part of the LRSC athletic program. And Freschette found herself in charge of resurrecting the dormant program. Since taking the position as head coach on a volunteer basis last September, Freschette has been putting the pieces together for a team that will play a varsity schedule in the fall. Continue Reading

The Grand Forks Police Department and Lake Region State College, based in Devils Lake, will hold another Peace Officer Training program in Grand Forks May 14. The program is a one-semester academy that makes graduates eligible for a peace-officer license in North Dakota. They would be “immediately hirable” by law enforcement agencies, the city said in a news release. Continue Reading
