A new doughnut shop, a graphic novel, a charming set of bed linens: Folks say they want these. And they voted with their pocketbooks. Reversing the usual order of things, the customers of Revolution Doughnuts, for example, bought those gooey pastries before the shop opened, through a crowd-funding enterprise called Kickstarter.
