Chicago singer to perform Great Lakes stories in TH

Songs of the sea have long entertained sailors and landlubbers, but soon Lake Countians will have an opportunity to hear music about bodies of water closer to home. Lee Murdock, a historical folk singer, is coming to Two Harbors next week to perform songs about the Great Lakes. Performing up to 150 shows every year, Murdock travels for performances throughout the Great Lakes region, as well as the rest of the United States and Canada. Roger Anderson, a fan of Murdock for over 30 years, arranged the performance. Continue Reading

Want a guitar? No strings attached: Local program puts guitars in the hands of middle school students

On this day, Room 142 at Willmar Middle School is no ordinary classroom. The desks are gone, discarded to every inch of free space to create a makeshift studio that for the next hour will play host to a collage of budding musicians. They are part of No Strings Attached, a 10-week music program through Willmar Community Education and Recreation and Whitney Music Center that offers sixth- through eighth-graders at the school the opportunity to learn guitar.
