When Brent Hintz hears that his Grand Forks Central girls basketball team has room for improvement, he takes it as a compliment. Central showed that room for improvement when it started the season with five straight losses. But the Knights have turned their fortunes around, winning six of their last nine games. The Grand Forks Red River boys basketball team went from the brink of routing Grand Forks Central to needing to pull off one of the craziest come-from-behind finishes in the rivalry’s history.
Despite leading by 15 points midway through the second half, Mack Arvidson’s 18-foot jumper with 1 second remaining gave Red River a stunning 66-65 victory over Central on Thursday night at the Red River gymnasium.
