PSC won’t pursue further wind farm study

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin has dealt a blow to a group of Town of Forest residents hoping to stop the installation of a wind turbine farm in northeast St. Croix County.

If Highland Wind Farm developers get their way, 41 turbines will be installed across that rural township landscape by the end of next year. A large number of local residents are up in arms over the idea. Still others are perfectly fine with the plans.
The forest features 9 acres of more than 80 evergreens, a couple natural hiking trails and plenty of deer and wild turkeys.
RENO, Nev. Smokey Bear has done such a good job stomping out forest fires the past half-century that a woodpecker that’s survived for millions of years by eating beetle larvae in burned trees is in danger of going extinct in parts of the West, including South Dakota.
