Elijah’s Pantry just got cooler

Elijah’s Pantry, a food shelf operated out of the Living Waters Fellowship in Two Harbors, recently purchased a commercial refrigerator thanks to a grant from Louisiana Pacific Foundation, a charitable arm of Louisiana Pacific Corporation and $500 from the senior class at Lakeview Christian Academy in Duluth, said Pastor Jim Joseph of Living Waters. The students’ money came from fund raising efforts for their senior class trip. Continue Reading

Lloyd Kucker knows as well as anyone the importance of a good meal.
Growing up as the youngest of 19 children, Kucker, now 88, of Mitchell, said “we sometimes had to put cardboard in our shoes, but we always had food on the table.” So when he found that First Lutheran Church was in jeopardy of falling short on its goal to donate 500 boxes of cereal to the Mitchell Food Pantry, he decided to take action.
Kucker went in front of his church with a $100 bill he had planned to use for new boots and asked the congregation to help. Continue Reading
