The Ellsworth Lions Club will hold its fishing contest 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Nugget Lake Park.
The St. Croix Sportsman’s Alliance will sponsor a free kids fishing contest on Saturday afternoon, June 8, at Homestead Parklands on Perch Lake, north of Willow River State Park, from 3-5:15 p.m.
Budget cutbacks and the lack of fee increases for several years have caused a severe reduction in the number of trout planted in the Willow and Apple rivers prior to the season opener.
