ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) Brock Nelson and Carter Rowney scored 46 seconds apart in the first period for North Dakota in a 4-0 victory over Denver on Saturday, giving the Fighting Sioux their third straight WCHA playoff championship.
Minnesota Duluth’s comeback this afternoon in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Final Five semifinals fell just short as Denver scored at 8:14 of a second overtime to win 4-3 before a crowd of 12,804 at the Xcel Energy Center.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) Carter Rowney and Michael Parks had a goal and assist apiece and North Dakota held off a late charge to beat Bemidji State 4-3 Saturday and sweep their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.
Matt Frattin and the North Dakota Fighting Sioux stormed the ice and surrounded the Broadmoor Trophy to celebrate their second straight WCHA tournament title.
ST. PAUL Matt Frattin scored the game-winning goal with 5:40 to play, and North Dakota beat Colorado College 4-3 Friday night in the semifinal of the WCHA Final Five.
