BISMARCK Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer had early warnings that last summer’s Missouri River flooding would be severe. As he read accounts of downstream flooding in North Dakota, Schweitzer was getting state agency reports that a large snow melt in western Montana’s Rocky Mountains a major source of Missouri water had barely started.
WILLMAR According to statewide figures, Minnesota is well-supplied with engineers.
Engineers were taking a close look at the uppermost portion of the 555-foot monument, called the pyramidon, before rappelling down to have a look at the rest. The top is where there’s a large crack and where they’re expecting to find the most damage.
