Senator’s switch puts Republican advantage at 30 to 5

PIERRE The South Dakota Republican Party announced Thursday that District 17 state senator-elect Eldon Nygaard, of Vermillion, has switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican.
The switch bumps the Republican advantage in the Senate to 30-5.
Nygaard served in the South Dakota House of Representatives from 2007 to this year. In a news release, Nygaard said, “my philosophy regarding government’s role in society is more in line with the Republican Party.” Continue Reading

Jon Christensen’s racing buddies will be thinking of him when they head to Pierre today to race at Oahe Speedway.
They said their farewells on Friday at Christensen’s wake.
