If economic recovery can be measured by an increase in housing additions, we’re feeling much better. Douglas County collected $219,057 in permit fees for 2012; 11 percent more than in 2011. Lakes Area Recreation board snubs county board decision to raise rent

Negotiations have been ongoing between Douglas County commissioners and the Lakes Area Recreation (LAR) board of directors for the past three years. Finally, an agreement was reached in December 2011 to raise the LAR’s rent to $1 per square foot beginning January 1, 2013. But that’s not how the contract presented to the county board reads.
