Newcomers win in GOP primaries in Dist. 19, 42

In District 19 Senate primary, new challenger Tom Campbell beat incumbent Sen. Gerry Uglem for the GOP nod in the newly redrawn district. Newbies all, John Mitzel, Mike Peterson and Josh Schreiner ran for the two Republican slots in District 42. With all four precincts reporting, Mitzel received 518 votes, or 35 percent of the total, and Schreiner got 488, or 33 percent. Out is Peterson, who received 469 votes, or 32 percent.
