Douglas County position in dispute

ARMOUR After Douglas County commissioners voted 3-1 to approve the appointment of Gary Denke as the new auditor Tuesday, current Auditor Diane Christensen submitted a new resignation letter to leave her position immediately.
Christensen told commissioners during the meeting that she could not support their decision to hire Denke as her replacement and wanted to resign Tuesday. She had already resigned last month, with her last day set for Nov. 5. Continue Reading

Hiring of Douglas auditor under scrutiny

The Douglas County state’s attorney is investigating a potential open meetings law violation after a complaint was filed Monday regarding the hiring of a new county auditor.
Craig Parkhurst said he received a complaint from County Auditor Diane Christensen about a possible violation Monday morning. If he finds the violation has merit, his options involve prosecuting a violation himself or sending a complaint to the attorney general’s office or Open Meetings Commission. Continue Reading
