UND said Friday that it will present honorary degrees to U.S. Sen. Kent Conrad; Mary Wakefield, a top federal health care official who once worked at the university; and businessman B. John Barry. The announcement was made after the State Board of Higher Education approved of the degrees on Thursday. The three will receive their Doctor of Letters degrees as early as May 12, when UND holds its spring general commencement at Grand Forks’ Alerus Center.
Dickinson State University is still evaluating which employees were involved with violating policies that resulted in hundreds of international students not meeting minimum admission requirements, lacking official transcripts and receiving unearned degrees.
Former Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., will receive an honorary Doctor of Letters degree during UND’s spring commencement in May, the university announced today.
