A new program implemented at Jamestown Public Schools teaches children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, but also about avoiding bullies and looking both ways before crossing the street.
Taught in 75 percent of schools across the country, DARE is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons teaching children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live drug- and violence-free. DARE originated in 1983 in Los Angeles.
