Coaches rave about field cleanup

After all the rain that fell on Mitchell Thursday afternoon and evening, Watertown’s Ryan Neale could not believe his team started its game seven minutes early Friday.
Neale’s squad was scheduled to resume its elimination game with Sioux Falls West at 10 a.m. Friday. It was the lone game to get under way before Thursday’s rain came and was suspended in the top of the third inning.
But Watertown’s Ryan Engels fired the first pitch at 9:53 a.m. Friday and the rain seemed like a distant memory. Especially for Watertown, since Engels ended the game with a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to keep Watertown’s season alive. Continue Reading
