BEMIDJI, Minn. Late Saturday night, Mario Lamoureux flew up the right wing, looked up and saw one of his good friends defending him.
“Matt Carlson,” said Lamoureux, a former Grand Forks Central player like Carlson. “Good friend. Sorry to him, but it had to be done.”
Lamoureux used Carlson as a screen to snap home a go-ahead goal with 4 minutes, 38 seconds left, then the UND men’s hockey team ran away with a 5-2 win over Bemidji State in the Sanford Center the identical score of both games between these teams in this building last season.
