For the first time in five years, the number of people dying on Minnesota’s roads increased last year, according to preliminary numbers released Thursday by the state’s Department of Public Safety.
Motorists have good reason to welcome 2013, as gasoline prices in Duluth continue their decline following what nationally was a record-high year for fuel costs.
The decline in gas prices is a nice change from much of 2012, the most expensive year for gas prices on record, with a national average price of $3.60 a gallon.
The largest car dealership group north of the Twin Cities just got bigger, with its purchase of Larson Chevrolet in Superior.
With gas below $3 in parts of Minnesota, a trip to the Twin Cities is about $14 less than it was on Labor Day.
