Before Acacia Fossum competed in her first high school gymnastics meet as a seventh-grader, Dickinson High head coach Kent Van Ells knew he had a special competitor.
For the last four years, the Dickinson High gymnastics team has felt the emotion of coming in runner-up to Minot at the state meet.
The Dickinson High gymnastics team has been on the cusp of being state champions for the last three years.
The countdown to the state gymnastics meet begins today and Dickinson’s girls are ready to make their move.
Acacia Fossum set the bar very high as a seventh-grader. Fossum won three individuals titles, including the all-around championship, and helped Dickinson High gymnastics finish second as a team for its third-straight year at the 2011 state meet.
JAMESTOWN Acacia Fossum’s first name isn’t the easiest to pronounce or spell, but people are going to have to get used to it.
