White House lawmakers on Capitol Hill were marking up their version of the 2012 farm bill on Wednesday, North Dakota’s congressional candidates each held discussions Wednesday with Fargo-area farmers and ranchers to gather insight on what they want out of the final bill.
With unified support from Minnesota’s and North Dakota’s delegations, the 2012 Farm Bill passed the Senate on Thursday.
Farmers have been most surprised about two things when attending July informational meetings in North Dakota about the 2012 farm bill the federal subsidy for crop insurance and the sheer amount of federal outlays for agricultural programs in the state.
