Just another case of so-called fiscal conservative TeaPublican/Constitutionalists costing the taxpayer money.

Stan, you make a common mistake, lumping the “Tea Party” and fiscal conservatives in with the “religious right”. Just as the Democratic Party is made up of various factions and interest groups, the Republican party is a coalition of various interest groups. Unfortunately for many voters the lack of a viable third party forces a choice between voting for Republicans who proclaim to support self-sufficiency but appear to be completely incapable of a secular thought or Democrats who profess to support individual liberties while creating entitlement systems that nurture dependency. The result of this two party system is an ever increasing federal budget deficit and federal debt as both sides race to provide benefits to their supporters. For example, we have a tax code has very few provisions relating to the actual collection of tax, but thousands of pages devoted to addressing the special interests of one group or another.

Joe you’re right that Democrats have various factions but I think you would be hard pressed to name any. Nobody has any trouble with the terms tea party, fiscal conservatives and religious right as being Republican. You also point out that the Republican seem to be incapable of a secular thought which would make that a policy and not a faction. Democrats are always referred to as “far left”. Really, they are all “far” left?
I have to hand it to Republicans. They made no bones that they would do nothing to have this administration succeed at all and have been true to their word. They have done nothing but obstruct(will not even approve a cabinet) and yet in spite of them the deficit is going down (I think it is close to half of what it was 5 years ago) so the plan doesn’t seem to be working. Now the talk is about a fight on the debt ceiling again. Good plan.
What happened to jobs, jobs, jobs? What happened to doing something about Wall Street? Democrats try (Elizabeth Warren) but are fought all the way.
I think you were saying both sides are at fault but being an Independent I can really see most of the blame coming from 1 side.

I can easily name many leftist factions and they all end with the word kooks.
