The Greeks also have a word….Icon and that’s what the Corn Palace is.
Look they have to do something and no matter what, people will complain (hell, it’s taken years to get to this point) so it was/is a no win situation. As far as the lights go the Empire State Building and Eiffel Tower are lit after hours so I don’t have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with and I think would be an interesting poll is how many are disappointed when they get inside and find it’s only a gym. And not a very functional gym at that.

I was thinking the same things Don. Just because the Palace is closed for entry does not negate the beauty of its facade. I lived in DC for a summer and it was wonderful to go to the mall at night and view the monuments……..our national ‘icons’ lite up. My fondest memory is climbing the steps to the Lincoln Memorial close to midnight with its granite glowing from the lighting and then turning and seeing the Washington Obelisk and the national capitol building way far back all glowing from their lighting. They were all closed with no entry……..cept for Lincoln’s. Our Corn Palace is no different and I suspect that even for the locals when driving down Main street it is a nice reminder of how glorious their town remains. No need for a poll IMO.
