Congrats to a successful run!!!! BUT, (a lot off topic), the headline, “prepare your running shoes” brings to mind the fund raiser for Wayne Klumper. WHY, is the YMCA trying to use such a good person and his misfortunes as a fundraiser for themselves??? $25.00, with $10.00 going to Klump. WHAT????? Are they serious? Do they really feel the need to raise funds off of a former employees misfortune? No thanks, I’ll send Wayne’s family the $25.00 instead. The “Y” should be ashamed of themselves for using him as a puppet to raise money! Disgraceful…….

After reading Andy’s message, don’t you think you owe the “Y” an apology? Maybe you should know ALL the facts before you start bashing someone.

Did it occur to anyone else that the YMCA fundraiser may have been discussed with — and approved by — the Klumper family in advance? Perhaps they suggested it? Mr. Klumper’s service and loyalty to the YMCA is well known.
Unless you have the facts, you shouldn’t be jumping to conclusions and calling others’ actions “disgraceful”.

DISGRACEFUL!! All the money should go to the Klumper family. The “Y” does not need to profit off of Wayne’s misfortune.

Its really too bad that some would think that the YMCA would try reap benefit from someones misfortune.
Wayne worked here for many years and our Y is doing what ever we can to help FACILITATE other members of our communities ideas to help the family, we happen to be in contact with them daily.
This idea and plan came from members of the Y and friends of the Klumper Family. We are supporting it by raising EXTRA dollars on the event to help out.
The Klumpers will be attending this event and others to share there thanks for all the support.
The Y has worked hard to be supportive and help facilitate support to the family.
We are VERY sorry some feel the way they do and would suggest such a terrible thing, but there are always those with with out the facts and looking for bad in others, what can we do.
We will continue to support where ever we can.
Praying and support for Wayne!!

It’s truly unfortunate that people look for the bad in doing a good deed for someone who was so dedicated to an organization. Wayne and the “Y” are and always will be synonymous with each other and I’m happy they are helping out anyway they can. If you don’t know all the facts, keep quiet.
I hope “ellamy” that you are never in need of help and you should be “ashamed” of your comment.
I did forget to clarify some more facts. The YMCA has run this same event for 31 years, in past years we have charged $12-$13 for the event…it just covers costs and thanks to the sponsors, like Sanford in most recent years, their support help that make it even better.
This year on the recommendation of community members, we added to the fee, the $10 so those participating can help honor Wayne with their participation can see another way to help him out.

Okay, folks. I understand people care deeply about the Y and Mr. Klumper, but this thread has gone very off-topic.
The existing posts will be left up, as they provide useful answers to questions, but any further off-topic posts will be removed.
Remember, the topic of this thread is Edgerton’s Dutch Festival.

I DO apologize. The “facts” were not stated and I took it on it’s face value. To avoid any confusion, all facts should be stated in original postings. It is a noble thing to do this and now that ALL the facts have been stated, I apolgize.
