Does anyone else hear a thumping sound?

The United States hasn’t crumbled because of interracial marriages or interfaith marriages; both of which were (and in some cases still are) the subject of opposition by some mainstream religions. I’m confident the United States will survive same-sex marriages too. We have K-12 school systems that are producing less and less despite record funding. We have a higher educational system that is producing graduates whose employment rate is hovering around 50% and our response is to dump more money into the system to make it easier for students to attend college. There are a lot of things that threaten the stability of the United States, but I wouldn’t personally put the failure to follow the word of God in the top ten. Sorry, but I think we have bigger problems than that, particularly since nobody is stopping anyone from following or expressing their beliefs.

It’s sad the level of education of our ministers nowadays. As anyone who has studied the bible knows, that translation of 1 Corinthians is flawed. In the original Greek, the terms used are most closely translated as “the effeminate and the sodomites” (this is what you get in the King James Version). Yes, there are some that argue that this is 4th century code for homosexuality, but why not be more literal (and thus true to the word of God)? Anyone who appears effeminate plus anyone who participates in any act of sodomy (whether heterosexual or homosexual) is condemned. No need to single out just homosexuals. So, what we need are laws applying criminal penalties for sodomy.
