When I saw the headline I thought that I would agree with Dr. Graves for once. Wrong again. I thought the article would be about starting school just after Labor Day and ending in late June as they do in the state I’m from. It still makes me laugh that on the 4th of July my wife will say “we’re on the back end of summer now”. Growing up the 4th of July was only 2 weeks after the end of school !! My father was a teacher and he would always say how the maintenance staff needed the summer to get the school back in shape.
What I would be interested in is are the teachers going to be paid more for the extra days/hours? Where would that money come from? Is the point that they are on salary so they don’t have to be paid more?
