What a great legacy Johnson is leaving. Voting for gay marriage and voting for more infringements on the Second Amendment. I wonder how South Dakotans feel about how this represents their beliefs? Thanks for representing your constituents Senator.

You got the first sentence right. Someday our children and grandchildren will look back on this issue in the same way we think of racism. It is good to know that even a retiring senator from SD will have been on the right side in history.
As for the citizens of South Dakota, none of the southern states wanted to abolish slavery either and it still happened. In the end equality will win.

Tim Johnson has served his state very well and it is good to see that his views on marriage equality has evolved, it is too bad that he is retiring. Now we are left with only those that are stuck in the past. M.D.Maag, maybe you can share what it is that he is voting for that infringes on the Second Amendment. If it is universal background checks maybe you can explain how that would infringe on anyone’s rights.

I am gratified that Sen. Johnson came out in favor of marriage equality. It is the right thing to do. I believe in what the word ‘equality’ means. Too bad there are folks who play word games and side steps. Many are our politicians. Sen. Johnson has been a great representative for the people of South Dakota.

When in anything other than the last couple of years have gays claimed ownership of the right to heterosexual marriage?Marriage isn’t a time honored tradition in the homosexual community, it is only advocated to gain legitimacy for something that isn’t.

Pretty much all of it.
I had the pleasure of seeing the movie “42” this weekend. I suggest you see it. There is a scene with the opposing coach yelling at Robinson. Watch and listen then go home and look in a mirror and understand what you are looking at.
