I pity Arthur so much. He is completely misguided and uninformed.
“The Child Care Collective Bargaining Act will allow child care providers to negotiate higher reimbursement rates with Minnesota so they can continue to provide quality care parents can afford.” – FACT: in a state such as New York, where they’ve had a union for years for child care businesses, they have not negotiated higher rates. That is a fact. You can whine and scream and beg and hope for a union success story, but that does not exist.
Please answer this: why do we need to take existing CCAP money, give it to AFSCME, only so AFSCME can ask the legislature to increase CCAP funding? Why take money away from low-income families and give it to AFSCME??? Please, please please answer that. Anyone, anybody…hello?

Furthermore, thousands of licensed child care providers already have high-quality programming with highly-trained owners and staffers who give outstanding and affordable child care for the families they serve.
If they are forced to pay “fair share” dues they will stop serving CCAP families in droves. How does that help improve access to child care?
Just how misguided are some of you people to believe the lies AFSCME is telling?
