I just want to thank you Gladstone Guy. You have given me an opportunity to appreciate what makes America so great. In America you can both voice your opinion and pursue your happiness. Grey Campbell, who founded Gladstone North Dakota in 1889, came from Scotland via Virginia and also believed in this freedom. People like Campbell, came from all over and for different reasons. Many of those families are still here today. Campbell named the town in honor of William E. Gladstone, prime minister of England, because Gladstone believed in the power of the common man to think and live with these freedoms.
My dad, who passed away last year, also understood this freedom. My dad, a retired Navy man, along with five of his veteran brothers, all fought to protect those rights for you and me.
My name is Tim Dunnagan and I’m proud of it. Those rights are extended to you as well. Don’t hide under internet anonymity to voice your opinion that others should not have those rights as well. I won’t pass judgment on you and I don’t think Campbell would have either. Campbell would have welcomed you to Gladstone just as he did the many others that found their way home to Gladstone.
One final comment to “mister no real name” in Gladstone. If you plan to post derogatory comments, it is imperative that your comments be factual. Have a nice day. Tim Dunnagan

How many years ago did you say you were going to fix up the train depot? 2 years now? Im pretty sure i seen it still sitting there just the other day. Who is going to fund that project anyway? What about the house on the west end of main….yea the one by the city dump, how long until thats done? Amswer me one question……when are you going to stop talking about pipe dreams and make them reality?

Can anyone tell me how building more houses and trying to bring up population in Gladstone is going to benefit the Gladstone residents?

Good for you Tim! Nevermind “gladstoneguy”. I almost 100% sure I know who that is and don’t waste your time with him. But it’s the same in all the little towns around here. About 7 years ago, these towns were dying a slow death..meaning much of the population was over 65 and no families. There wasn’t going to be a town in 15 years. I grew up by Williston, ND, moved away for 11 years and came back in 2004. I’m treated as an outsider even though I’m orginally from here. But don’t let it bother you. I enjoy the new families where I live because my daughter has made numerous friends. You just have to ignore the “us or them” mentality. Many North Dakotans hate change and would rather see a small town die than to have “outsiders” come in. They are xenophobic and view their way of life changing.
I have found 99% of the people moving here are good people, many with families. They just want to work and live their life.

Sounds like a community that wants to die a slow death.
