I can see why the population is down – every business in town is worthless or shutting down. If the city council would put their heads together and plan on reviving this town, maybe we could start getting more people to stay. It also is hindering doctors from coming in to Jamestown, thus our new hospital sits there with very poor staff.
I don’t understand why we can’t have some popular stores in the Buffalo Mall – there’s plenty of empty spaces, and plenty of empty buildings downtown. People go to Bismarck or Fargo to shop because they have a Target, Kohl’s, Hobby Lobby, etc., AND they have food courts in the malls. Our mall has nothing in it for eating (I imagine that’s because there’s no decent stores to visit).
So how about the city council looking at improving our town’s businesses, which would also help people find work, and maybe our population wouldn’t be dropping. Sure wouldn’t hurt to try.
Hot debate. What do you think?
