March 14, 1963: Cold feet, aching limbs end result for hikers: A weary group of eight was the remainder of a party of ten who began an eight-mile hike down the Kinnickinnic river to check out the possibility of building another dam to generate more power for the city. Jim Young, Wes Johnson, Mayor Spike Hoffman, Dick Fox, Dr. R.A. Pennington, Bruce Pennington, Lyle Zastrow and Stan Hofstedt, utilities department manager, completed the journey. Continue Reading
