I am a union employee. I believe unions can and do offer help to employees. However, there is a lot unions do to hurt the employees, the company, and the nation through its poor political practices.
But, don’t worry about how Uncle Sam has treated you because times are changing. Unions are no different than micro socialist communities where the more productive members are forced to forfeit their wages and efforts to support those who aren’t able or willing to work for it. And where dues are used to pay huge wages to Union Reps who do little more than say they care about you as they hob-knob on the golf courses and at fancy restaurants with the power players in business and politics. Keep Obama and the progressives in office and we can all enjoy the comfort of being part of a union as they transform this nation into the Socialist Union States of America and the words taxes and dues will be interchangeable.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Rather than supporting the status quo, why not take action? Unions typically have rules written into their contracts designed to guarantee it’s going to be difficult to identify and deal with underperformers.
What steps could be taken to ensure, (or at least make it more likely), that the coasters could be identified and dealt with? Why are the rules making identifying and dealing with the coasters always among the most vehemently defended?
Ask your rep(s), and post their rehearsed rhetoric word for word…..

The reason the rules are so hard to change in that manner is the same as why the democrats continue to be elected….there are more and more people free-riding than pulling the wagon. Its a majority vote and they may be screaming “UNITY”, but they are really only looking out for themselves.

See, this is why nobody takes you seriously. The idea that all Democrats are on some kind of goverment assistence is just not borne out by the facts. In reality, all the old white guys who vote Republican are the ones getting government checks. The whole “takers vs makers” argument is totally bogus. It only has legs on Fox news.
