Obama: Nation stronger, GOP should back his plans
February 13, 2013 at 12:27 am in The Daily Republic
WASHINGTON (AP) Uncompromising and politically emboldened, President Barack Obama urged a deeply divided Congress Tuesday night to embrace his plans to use government money to create jobs and strengthen the nation’s middle class. He declared Republican ideas for reducing the deficit “even worse” than the unpalatable deals Washington had to stomach during his first term.

No case can be made for the United States being stronger while being buried in Obama debt. Supporting Obama policies only means supporting further disaster. Supporting ripping down freedom and democracy is nothing for the democrats and Obama to be proud of.

Are we weaker? Further disaster? How is your life different in the last 4 years. Ripping freedom and democracy? Give it a break will ya.

Terrorists killing our ambassador in Benghazi while Obama stands and watches somehow makes us stronger? Giving weapons to drug dealers in Mexico makes us stronger? Giving aid and comfort to Egypts new terrorist Muslim Brotherhood government makes us stronger? Obama working to subvert the Constitution that he has sworn to uphold makes us stronger? The world is a more dangerous place than it was four years ago when Obama took office and it will continue to become more dangerous every day while he is in office.

Don’t forget about North Korea ignoring Obama’s pleas while they merrily continue testing nukes and ever longer range missiles. Meanwhile the hapless Obama continues to work on disarming more of our nukes while the Chinese build up their stockpiles of nuclear tipped missiles, launch aircraft carriers, and develop stealth fighters. Ya, sure sounds like we’re a lot safer all right.

Answer to what, Don? You’re the one who seems to think we’ve gotten stronger under Obama and I say we’ve gotten weaker relative to China, North Korea, and Iran just as we did while Carter was in office. We have to hope all hell doesn’t break loose during the next four years and then we’ll have to hope we can elect a president who can repair the damage done by Obama just like Ronald Reagan had to strengthen the military after Carter let it all but collapse.

Seriously? Carter (graduate from Annapolis)let the military collapse? Are you telling me there has been a time in history after WW II that would couldn’t kick anyone’s a**? The question I was seeking an answer to is What would you do with Korea? Please tell me your solution.

So going to West Point or Annapolis means you’re a good president? U.S. Grant was a good general but I doubt you’d find many people who would say he was a good president. What kind of a president does a draft dodger make? (Clinton). A lot of people would say he was a good president. What’s important is to face trouble head on like JFK did during the Cuban missile crisis or like Reagan did in letting the Soviet Union know that we could outbuild their military if they wanted an arms race. In the case of North Korea I would let them know that if they didn’t stop their pursuit of missiles and nukes we would help South Korea with their own nuke program right in the North’s backyard. You can’t waver when dealing with tyrants. Iran knew that Carter wouldn’t do much about the hostages they were holding in the embassy but as soon as Reagan took office they knew they better let them go or else.

Well, good for you. I honestly thought you would say something like “kill them all” but I don’t think you thought through your solution. We have the nukes and we are allies with SK so that’s enough. Do you really think letting another country have nukes is the answer? That’s like saying arming teachers is a good idea……wait, never mind, forgot who I was talking to. The rest of the world would not look kindly to us “helping” another country with that and as far as an arms race between us and NK (or anyone for that matter) we are so far ahead it’s not a race.
Reagan…..(sigh)……..sure, I’ll give a tip of the hat to standing up to the Soviets…..but so did the 8 previous administrations. He happened to be there when the Soviet Union collapsed. Your assessment of his involvement with the Iranian hostage crisis is a myth and has as much credibility as the other side of the coin that says he made a deal with Iran to put off the release until after the election so Carter could not pull the “October surprise” and win.
I pointed out that Carter was from a military background to show he was pro-military and WOULD NOT weaken it (he didn’t). He is a good man, he was not a good president. Yes, Reagan built up the military, and spent a butt load of money doing it (the start of our deficit problems). Carter came in at the end of Vietnam and the military was not on anyone’s happy list. That didn’t change under Reagan but did under Bush 1 and the 1st Gulf war.

The Chinese have 1 carrier and that was a used one they got from Russia, even after reductions in weapons the US has enough nukes to destroy the world ten times over. North Korea knows if it attacks the US they would be destroyed. Why do people want to rush to war? As far as lives changing, they have changed for the better. Iraq is done and Afganastan is over in 2014. The economy is improving slowly in many areas. It sure is better than 4 years ago and much better than 8 years ago. I will await your Faux news, Glen Beck, Hannity, ORiely, Palin, Rove talking points because that’s all you have.

Ok, we’ll go with your plan. We’ll help SK develop nukes. The Chinese, I’m will have no problem with that so that should make things interesting…but this is your plan so you explain it to them. I don’t know what your Iran plan is but make sure you check in with Russia and let me know how that works out.
Wait…..you want to build up our military more…right? This is like talking to an addict…too much is JUST enough.

Benghazi again!!! Stop! Here digest this:
“Where was all that concern for our men and women serving in embassies and consulates across the globe when all the other attacks and killings occurred?
Like in 2002 when the US Consulate in the Karachi, Pakistan, was attacked and 10 were killed?
Or in 2004 when the US embassy in Uzbekistan was attacked and two were killed and another nine injured?
How about in 2004, when the US Consulate in Saudi Arabia was stormed and 8 lost their lives?
There is more: In 2006, armed men attacked the US Embassy in Syria and one was murdered.
Then in 2007 a grenade was thrown at the US Embassy in Athens.
In 2008, the US Embassy in Serbia was set on fire.
In 2008, bombings in the US Embassy in Yemen killed 10.”
Mexico was a program started under Bush and (unfortunately) kept alive by Obama but has since been stopped.
Subvert the Constitution? Without and example…….then that statement is signifying nothing.
Is the world more dangerous…..I bet the people drones are flying over believe so…..but before you jump on the drone argument with them flying over farmland they are not armed drones so just stop there and the point of them is to catch bad guys.

Oh that’s right, everything is George Bush’s fault. I forgot, sorry. Obama’s most transparent administration in history became history the first day of his first term and hasn’t been seen since, it’s all lame excuses and blame everything but Obama’s own bumbling. When is Obama going to decide to be president and take credit for this fiasco that is the Obama administration.

I didn’t say anything about Bush, I just used the last administration as an example that what your railing about is a common occurace but for some reason you and others that think as you do have grabbed this non issue and are trying to make something out of it.
To put more of a point on it…..Bush 2 had about 41 attacks, Clinton about 79 attacks, Bush 1 about 83, Reagan 129, Carter 54, Ford 34. The point is diplomacy in certain parts of the world is very dangerous for Americans and it doesn’t matter what party is in control but I don’t think your one to let facts get in the way of your opinion.
My point is your personal life has not changed 1 iota in the last 4 years.

Question for Corleone. You’ve made this statement a few times to others and myself at least once so I’m anxious to hear your response. You’ve said to many in one form or another the following: “your life has not changed one iota in the last four years”.
Please tell me how you know this is true? Of course you’ll need to know where I work, where I live, how many family members I have living close by, where they work, where my medical insurance comes from then and now, have I been laid off, how much taxes I pay. Many other varibles you’ll need to know in order to make that statement. Please don’t sweat over analysis of each of these variables or give me some doublespeak to avoid answering the question. I only have ONE question.
How do you know my life or any others (that you do not know or ever met) has not changed in the past four years? Simple question. I await your response.

Sure, simple answer, because you’re right. I have put the statement out there in other threads and if I remember correctly 2x to you personally and you have never made a retort to the challenge.
You don’t want me sweat the variables so the question is a simple “do I know you”. No, you could be right next to me in a crowd and I would have a clue nor do I know anything about your personal life…….but the devil IS in the details(variables).
What you and I have discussed before is that I was laid off in 08 and rehired a year later but I no trouble working during that year. I am guessing you live here in SD so you know we have (compared to the nation) very low unemployment and jobs are there if you want to work. We have the 2nd lowest taxes in the U.S. so what’s the gripe there? You stated you are a vet so I’m guessing your medical insurance is covered there but it must feel good to know others can get insurance that could not before. The point is the “personal life” of folks in SD have been changed very little by this administration or to the better if they have. You’re playing semantics with the context of the question…….and you know it.

As usual you just don’t get it.
Your entire response is to prove that other attacks have occurred throughout the years? Gee no kidding? Look Sherlock, this isn’t even about that. This is about a false narrative being given that the administration knew was untrue. This is about Hillary being pretty much in hiding. This is about Obama basically saying don’t ask Rice ask him, but of course he was pretty much unavailable. Still has not addressed it.
No one is really sure what happened. The survivors have been sequestered and no one knows who they are or where they are. There was clearly a weapons pipeline through Libya that no on wants to talk about. When Hillary finally was backed into the corner at the hearing she got mad and her response was “what does it matter?” What does it matter?
Are you kidding me. The hypocrisy of the left is outrageous. If Bush tried that the left would be all over him. Not to mention if he was taking out US citizens with drones they’d be crying for war crimes. Oh yeah, they did when they found out he allowed 3 incidents of water boarding. They wanted him tried and hung out to dry. Now Obama kills with drones based on “suspicion” of terrorist activity and the silence is deafening. He killed a 16 year old kid born in Colorado without due process. We only know this after a leak. Where’s the transparency he promised.
Obama has this country divided. A leader brings people together. Remember he advised his supporters during the campaign to vote out of revenge. He offers partisan deals to the other side that he knows they cannot vote for then when they refuse he says “see they can’t compromise” He’s good at the art of Chicago style politics, no doubt. A master at crushing the opposition. The problem is the opposition are Americans too and he is supposed to be every American’s President. Check out the very first word in the article above. The first word in an article that is pro-Obama. Are you kidding. That’s a leader? How would that work in a business, a family, a city council or state legislature? The man is a bully and a narcissist. His wife is even worse. Michelle “get the whitey” Obama.
Nancy Pelosi says “we don’t have a spending problem, we have a deficit problem.” What? Another Senator yesterday (I forget his name) said “we don’t have a spending problem, we have a paying our bills problem” What? I laughed out loud driving down the road. That’s the silliness statement yet. You buy this. Good grief.
Back to your response. The issue was not even whether we have ever been attacked before. Were you actually being serious? The issue my friend is transparency. What is he up to? What happened really in Benghazi? Why the silence? Where are the survivors? Why can we get no information?
Do you have proof that there is no big conspiracy? Do you have proof that everything was on the up and up there in Benghazi? Please publish it because congress would love to see it. I don’t either but the silence and coverup makes me wonder. Are you of those that believes politicians in general and the President specifically would never do anything dishonest behind our backs? He would never lie right? He’s just an honest guy looking out for all his subject. The good shepherd? Like Chris Rock says “he’s our boss.” Excuse me, I thought politicians work for us. “Public servants” You and Chris Rock need an education.

I get it, I’m just not buying what you’re selling. Smartimus asked “Terrorists killing our ambassador in Benghazi while Obama stands and watches somehow makes us stronger?” and I pointed out that there are numerous instances where our people are attacked and there isn’t any witch hunt investigations. Why this one? Were all the others cut and dry? This isn’t a false narrative, it’s not about transparency. If so ,why weren’t the other attacks? Did you even KNOW about the other attacks?
Do I have proof there is no big conspiracy? No, why should I look? Innocent till PROVEN guilty. If there is proof, I’ll believe it when I see it.
Killing U.S. citizens with drones. Are you saying that guy was innocent? Are you saying we should send soldiers and put them at risk to do the job when it’s unnecessary? I thought the idea is kill bad guys without losing our guys.

Your question has been asked and answered. Again I’ll state that you are twisting the context of the question to fit……I don’t know what your point is……but for the sake of discussion (as I’ve said) I have given an example on how my life HAS been affected. You have never given any evidence that the policy’s of this administration has had a direct effect on yours.
In the context that was presented Administration has an effect nationally, a little less at the state level, less again at the county, less again at the city and less again at the personal level. The Obama policy’s have not had a negative effect on MY life here and SD and again I’ll say that would go for the whole state.
It’s a simple yes or no…..has Obama’s policy’s REALLY had a personal impact to your lifestyle? I doubt it.
Do I know you personally, no, so therefore I have no proof……but that was not the context of the question….and you know it.
