On Jan. 9, Mr. Owen Reitzel criticized the CEO of Trail King for suggesting to Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., on a recent visit to Mitchell, that business conditions with an Obama election versus a Romney election equated to a loss of hiring 150 new employees.

What a smug ass. Who the hell writes about themselves in 3rd person? Did Mr. Yakley write the letter himself or assign the task to his personal assistant?
I think it was a low blow to say “Yakley did some research on Mr. Reitzel; it then became clear why Mr. Reitzel seemed offended.” without elaborating on that more. It took 2 seconds for me to look up Mr Reitzel, and all I could find were some postings regarding him getting laid off at the verifications company. Is that what Mr Yakley is referring to?
I have worked for some very good business leaders over the years. I’d say an equal amount were democrat and republican, but the one thing that the good ones had in common was that they were very focused on their jobs and didn’t wear any ideology on their sleeve. They realized that demand for product mattered much more than who was elected president. In his writing, Mr Yakley reminds me very much of the “Mr. Burns” character from the “Simpsons”. I do feel fortunate he is not my boss!

This is what I know from Mr. Yakley’s opinion piece:
Fact 1 has nothing to do with anything…..we all had to take a bite of that sandwich.
Fact 2 Don’t know what this has to do with anything either…..what’s the average age in 2013? I don’t have a clue but is 9 years the average every year?
Fact 3 Before we jump on the band wagon of the WIN program (I think it’s a good program) but how many were laid off in 2008-2009? How many came back? Were they all just replaced? Skilled labor in Mitchell has been a problem for 20 years. It’s a good thing because we have been lucky with low unemployment.
Fact 4 I would be careful about touting the benefits of Fracking. This is a real polarizing issue with dollar signs waved in front of people and the potential environmental damage not worth it.
Fact 5 Don’t get me started with this nonsense. This is the one statement that Mr. Yakley made that made most people think…..”what an __________ ” fill in your own mad lib.
Fact 6 Just one of the guys
Fact 7 Chance of employment for Mr. Reitzel are probably not good.
