Every family in Minnesota will see a tax increase under Gov. Mark Dayton’s new budget proposal, which was released last week in St. Paul. Continue Reading

What a surprise, the democrats are going to raise taxes on everyone in the state. Who’d have ever thought they would do that? Wink.

When Dayton gets his way with his lavish tax and spend proposals the spending will have increased by $6 billion already during his tenure. The last budget before he took office was $32 billion now it will be close to $38 billion, about a 19% increase from when he took office.

As soon as I heard the R’s lost both houses I told my partner here at the office that this state was in for obscene taxing and spending. He told me I was being too negative. I think its about time for an “I told you so” discussion!!!

One month into the legislative session and you’re ready to say “I told you so”? A bit impulsive, don’t you think? You could be jumping the gun. Why not wait and see how things play out?
There are lots of proposals out there; nothing has become law yet. Save your ammo for the real battle.
Why do you think the R’s lost both houses, anyway? Shouldn’t that be taken into consideration?

What battle? The democrats are going to raise taxes on everyone along with huge spending increases. They have a free hand to do what they want and there will be no controls whatever on anything they do.

A little history lesson… for 2 years the Republicans ran both the House and the Senate in MN and had “a free hand to do whatever they wanted”. They introduced some legislation that proved VERY unpopular with MN voters. Nothing got done. What happened next? The voters spoke. They lost their majority. Now the Repubs and their followers are whining big time because the DFL has an opportunity to legislate. The DFL has a chance to do accomplish something — and if they do it will make the Repubs look even more ineffective.
If Gov. Dayton and the DFL legislators are unable to deliver sound government, you — and every other voter — will have an opportunity to voice your disapproval and vote them out in 2 years.
Throwing verbal grenades at the DFL, only 1 month into the session, is a total waste of time. It won’t change the outcome. If you continue, you’ll just look like another sore loser. I suggest you find something more productive to do.

The big tax and spenders have already presented the bloated budget they intend to pass along with the bloated taxes they are going to pass on the middle class. You’re right about nothing changing the outcome as the democrats have no opposition that can defeat anything. The republicans restrained Dayton to some extent previous to the last election but there is nothing to restrain him now. Dayton’s budget is a disaster for businesses and the middle class in Minnesota.
