   I’d like to point out that integration is about far more than race. It encompasses socio-economic status, religion, cultural traditions, physical ability, and sexual orientation. An environment where students are taught how to understand and work with people from all walks of life is crucial as the area and the country become part of the global community. The staff has years of training and experience in facilitating this environment and incorporating these skills into the everyday lives of students. Diversity of all kinds are not simply tolerated, or even accepted, but celebrated. Every day. Understanding others’ points of view and respecting their perspectives on things is the key to healthy, productive citizens. I think all public schools should be doing this type of work with the state tax dollars that are poured into their individual districts. Some districts are working towards this goal, but many are not.
