Majority Republicans say they’ll hold only one public hearing on their bill to encourage new mining in Wisconsin and that session is set for Wednesday, Jan. 23rd in Madison. Also, state lawmakers are gearing up for a hot debate about the possible expansion of Badger Care, OWI convictions are down markedly statewide and federal budget woes are making visits to the area Social Security office a challenge, plus more state briefs.
