Jane thinks there’s a “right winger” behind every tree. She has an irrational fear they will reduce her government checks.

Unlike the RWN who thinks there is an ATF agent behind every tree waiting to take their guns away.

A bit of a minor quandry for Bresciani. Universities insis on a built-n 20% skimmed right off the top for what are euphemistically call “administrative expenses,” but what NDSU has proven to use for whatever it wants. In this case, that would have meant about 240K. My guess is he weighed that against the amount the Legislature could provide and cut the investigators off at the knees. I wonder if there’s something in the air on the NDSU campus that causes presidents there to become unethical.

When this grant was written up in the paper a few weeks ago, I thought this would happen. When Planned Parenthood was mentioned, it seemed impossible for this grant to not have right-wing opposition. After all, Planned Parenthood has become the “Acorn” of last year. Never mind that most of what Planned Parenthood does is provide women’s health care services of all kinds and that abortion services is a minor part of what they do, an essential part but a minor part. Bresciani should be ashamed of himself, but I am sure he was bullied into submission by Betty et al. He was probably told that if he wanted to see any money at NDSU for anything, he would do as he was told. I bet he won’t last very long in his job. He probably didn’t understand what it meant to work in a red state. Any self respecting university official would have gone to the mat for his faculty. Sad, sad, sad.

” Any self respecting university official would have gone to the mat for his faculty.”
When has Bresciani ever shown a propensity for that? As I’ve said before, he was willing to cut academic programs before athletics and administrative bloat.

Wow…I think I love DL Online. Thank you ma’am for giving us your honest opinion. How refreshing is this? You will have to excuse my enthusiasm. I have been reading the Grand Forks Herald for the past year or so. None of their staff speaks so openly.

Spawn she is a columnist for the Fargo Forum and catches it all the time from the RWNs there.

Nonetheless, it’s refreshing to see a local newspaper criticize an insitution. In other towns newspapers tend to bury the negative and only print PR puff pieces.

Really, so NDSU prez would rather see a bunch of at risk female teens pregnant? Way to go. This is truly a red state. We need a change up in state government.

Yep, this is Glen Beck land. It’s depressing until you realize how quickly you can drive over to Minnesota.

“We need a change up in state government.”
Good luck. Over the decades the names change but the mindset remains. As I said a while back, you have an ND legislature living in the 21st century with a late 19th century world view.

Washington Republicans have seen what it takes for the nuts to take over and are scared to death of the upcoming primaries so now they are going full guns against abortion. Evidently they did not learn a thing from Indiana and Missouri.

Of course another possibility is that Bresciani has a miraculous change of heart once the legislative session is over.
