I can’t speak to ND law, but in CA police are not allowed to shoot a fleeing suspect.

I once had a cop tell me that if you take out a burglar outside your house, you’d better drag him back in.

You also lock your doors. Thanks for the head up, by the way.

Getting back to the issue at hand.
If Congress is so fired up to make some new laws….I have a suggestion.
They should make it a law that if someone enters a home and tries to steal something the homeowner should be required to shoot the burglar…if that burglar runs away like the slimey little cowards tend to do..the law should demand that the homeowner pursue the burglar and either shoot or otherwise incapacitate the burglar.
And…the burglar or the burglar’s family, in the fortunate cases where the burglar meets his demise, the family or relatives should be made by court order to re-pay the aggrieved homeowner for any damages…up to and including the cost of the ammunition.

S’ok. Don’t think you’d make it from the parking lot to the front door. Currently enjoying a balmy -2, going to -26 tonight.

The shooter has a possible problem with this. That is unless he is a real good liar and keep the multi telling of his story straight.

I was reading about a case very similar to this one. The homeowner confronted the criminal in his living room. The homeowner shot the floor right in front of the man with his AR15. He told the man to get down on the floor. He held him there until the cops arrived. It turned out the criminal had two pistols on him. The homeowner felt that if he hadn’t confronted the man with his AR15 the criminal might have made a play for one of his weapons.
